Hebridean Island Cruises has launched its 2027 Lord of the Glens brochure featuring four six- and seven-night itineraries sailing the Caledonian Canal, the Great Glen and the west coast islands, as well as an expanded August programme, three brand new guest speakers and a dedicated music cruise.

The sailings take place onboard the 50-guest, purpose-built vessel Lord of the Glens with prices from £2,450 per person to £4,225 per person full board.

New for 2027:

  • An expanded August programme which has increased from a single departure to five departures running as a continuous weekly sailing between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh. The four new sailings are a seven-night Secrets of the Highlands & Islands cruise from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh with departures on 2nd and 16th August; and a seven-night Inland Waterways & Idyllic Isles cruise from Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness with departures on 9th and 23rd August. Prices from £3,075 per person.
  • For the first time ever, Lord of the Glens will feature three guest speakers – James Naughtie, Kay Burley and Michael Buerk – who will give informal talks about their careers in journalism and broadcasting throughout the cruise.
  • James Naughtie, special correspondent for BBC News, former presenter of the Today programme for 21 years and host of Radio 4’s Bookclub for almost three decades, joins the 26th July Inland Waterways and Idyllic Isles cruise. Prices from £3,075 per person.
  • Kay Burley, one of British television’s best known news presenters, who fronted Sky News’ flagship breakfast programme over a 36 year career with the channel, joins the 23rd  August 2027 Inland Waterways and Idyllic Isles cruise. Price from £3,075 per person.
  • Michael Buerk, BBC foreign correspondent and presenter for more than 30 years, and winner of multiple industry awards, joins the 15th October 2027 Voyage Through the Heart of Scotland cruise. Prices from £2,450 per person.
  • Another first for Lord of the Glens is a music cruise featuring onboard performances from Colm and Laura Keegan, award-winning musicians whose concerts combine voice, cello, guitar and piano across traditional Irish and Scottish songs, contemporary folk and their own material, with informal sessions and sing-songs through the week. This takes place on the 14th April Caledonian and Great Glen Explorer cruise. Prices from £3,400 per person.
