Marking the contest’s 70th anniversary, Eurovision 2026 will be taking place in the Austrian capital of Vienna at Wiener Stadthalle, on 16th May 2026, after last year’s winner JJ came to victory with his song “Wasted Love” in Basel, Switzerland.

With the final a week away, TUI River Cruises has produced a list of what Vienna has to offer along the famous river Danube so visitors can explore the Austrian city of music and culture ahead of Europe’s largest singing contest.

Classic Vienna City Tour

Vienna’s grand architecture sets the tone for the tour that blends panoramic views with close-up exploration.

A bus tour sweeps past the Art Nouveau Urania observatory and the lively Danube Canal, where cafés and riverside hangouts line the promenade.

On foot, visitors can pause at the Belvedere Museum to admire its Baroque palaces and terraced gardens. The route continues by bus to the Hofburg, the former Habsburg residence, placing sightseers within walking distance of St Stephen’s Cathedral and its striking patterned roof.

Finally, the tour includes a view of Opera House before a relaxed return to the ship. (£39 per person).

Ticket for the Museum of Illusions in Vienna

The Austrian capital invites visitors into a playful world of illusions, where more than 50 interactive experiences challenge your senses.

Step into a reversed room that defies gravity, scale the colourful façade of Otto Wagner’s Majolikahaus and wander through a walk‑in kaleidoscope.

Watch companions grow or shrink in the Ames room, then steady themselves in the dizzying vortex tunnel.

Create doubles in the symmetry room, pose with a head on a platter, and capture striking photos in infinite space.

Along the way, test your skills with clever wooden puzzles that keep both mind and imagination engaged. (£17 per person).

Big Bus Vienna panoramic city night tour

This live‑guided evening tour lets visitors experience Vienna’s most iconic sights from a fresh perspective.

Departing from the Vienna State Opera, the route follows the beautifully illuminated Ring Street before continuing past the lively Prater amusement park, the Danube River and Canal, City Park, and the bustling Farmers Market.

It’s a chance to see Vienna in a new light, with its landmarks transformed by the magic of the evening. (£26 per person).

Sound of Vienna and Evening in Concert

The city truly earns its title as the City of Music, with more famous composers living here than anywhere else.
